FAQs
How often should I get new strings?
As a student, I recommend changing your strings every 12 to 18 months. As you progress into more advanced repertoire and are consistently playing more often, I suggest changing strings at 9 to 12 months.
I recommend getting your strings in store, as opposed to ordering them online. This is because strings have a shelf life, and we cannot be certain how long they have been on the shelf for when bought online.
What does my students' tuition cover?
Tuition reserves your students time in the studio schedule, as well as pays for my time as your students’ teacher.
How often should I get a bow rehair?
Much like needing new strings, I recommend getting a bow rehair every 12 to 18 months. Bow rehairs are essential as the horse hair and become too greasy, or stop producing a good tone quality.
I recommend getting your bow rehaired at Summerhays Music or by Dan Salini in Salt Lake City.
What holidays do we have off of lessons?
There are 8 weeks in the calendar year that I do not teach lessons. These 8 weeks will be marked in the studio calendar, as well as in the payment schedule.
Why is your studio on a semester schedule?
Having my studio on a semester schedule allows for me to ensure that your student gets 44 lessons in a calendar year. This also allows for me to have a consistent payment schedule, as well as consistent payment amounts.
What is the semester schedule, and the payment schedule?
You can find the information about the semester and payment schedules here.
